What multiplayer means in Railborn

Multiplayer in Railborn is cooperative, not competitive. You and up to three friends share one train and one survival loop across a world of branching tracks. Official media shows several characters working the same train, and the store listing confirms the 1-4 player count for online play.

Multiplayer is why Early Access slipped to 2027

The September 2026 schedule update revealed that Railborn was originally planned as a single-player-only Early Access, with multiplayer reserved for 1.0. An early multiplayer prototype tested so well that the two-person team decided to ship it in Early Access instead, accepting a move to summer 2027. Multiplayer is therefore a launch feature of Early Access, not a someday addition.

Why co-op fits this game

The systems are interdependent. Power and water routing, farming, construction and outside salvaging all pull in different directions, and a crew can run them in parallel. The co-op guide suggests how to divide those jobs.

Single-player is first-class too
